Rockford, IL Crime Statistics
Beginning January 1, 2010, the Rockford Police Department will change the way police incident data is displayed in weekly and monthly offense count reports.
The Rockford Police Department records and reports NIBRS (National Incident-Based Reporting System) data. NIBRS criminal offenses are made up of Group A and Group B crimes that include homicide, robbery, assault, burglary, weapon offenses, drug related offenses, criminal damage to property, prostitution, forgery and theft.
Other offenses, such as most traffic related offenses, accidents, information for Police, medical assists, abandoned vehicles, lost and found and service to other agencies, are not criminal in nature and will be reported separately in the offense reports.
Weekly reports will display the breakdown and totals for Group A offenses.Monthly reports will display Group A, Group B and Non-criminal offenses as Additional Department Activity.
